Started in 1722 and family-owned for 13 generations, Defeng plantation of Xiping township, Anxi is dedicated to making traditional Tieguanyin from the heirloom Hongxin cultivar. We toured their sprawling organic plantation, protected area with a Tieguanyin mother tree, and saw the factory where their teas are crafted, ending with a farm-fresh tea tasting.
We absolutely love their whole leaf Tieguanyin (both light and dark roast), with complex floral, fruity notes, the lingering sweetness of Tieguanyin and the fresh but also warm feeling it gives us. We also enjoy appreciating the crimson color of the wet leaf, unique to traditional Hongxin cultivar.
Hongxin Tieguanyin Tea Notes:
Light Roast: Orchid flowers, Grapefruit, Melted Butter
Dark Roast: Baked Fruits, Sweet Plum, Honey-glazed Walnuts
As you may have noticed, we've changed our packaging from foil zip-packs to craft paper bags. This is to be more eco-friendly and provide better storage, while still packing the same amount of tea for you!
