Pre-Qingming Long Jing (Dragon Well) Green Tea

2026 First Pick | SJ's Personal Sourcing | Made by Master Bao

We only brought in 1kg of this tea, personally carried back from Yuezhou by our US fulfillment partner, SJ, so once it sells out, it will not be restocked this season.
---

Toasty and nutty in aroma, with notes of green bean and edamame beneath a gentle floral lift, this first-pick Long Jing is both vibrant and grounding. The liquor is smooth and refreshing, finishing clean with a lingering sweetness.

This is our first Chinese green tea offering. For this release, our partner SJ visited Yuezhou, Zhejiang - a traditional Long Jing-producing region outside the famous Xi Hu (West Lake) area - where his friend, Master Bao (a national tea-making competition champion), produced this spring’s tea.

It’s a small, carefully selected first-pick lot from a trusted producer relationship in Yuezhou.

What stood out most is its elegance: alongside the classic chestnut and green bean character of Long Jing, there’s a lifted floral aroma reminiscent of high mountain oolong.

Brew Instructions

Contrary to common advice for green tea, we recommend brewing this tea at near-boiling temperatures with short infusions.

As an early spring first-pick tea, it is naturally high in amino acids and low in tannins, resulting in a sweet, umami-rich cup with very little bitterness even at higher temperatures. Hotter water also helps open its floral aromatics.

We recommend a gaiwan for best expression, though it also performs beautifully grandpa-style or western-style.

Gongfu Brew (Gaiwan): 3g | 150ml | 95-98°C | 10 sec | +5 sec for additional brews | ~ 4 steeps

Grandpa Brew (Glass): 2g | 250ml | 90°C | Drink as you brew | ~ 2 refills

Western Brew (Mug / Teapot): 3g (1 tbsp) | 350ml | 90°C | 2 min | + 1 min for additional brews | ~ 2 steeps
