Organic Sri Lankan Lemongrass (Caffeine Free)

Looking for something soothing to sip on in the evenings? Say hello to our very first herbal tisane, Lemongrass.

Grown in the scenic Uva region of Sri Lanka, this Lemongrass was cold-brewed and served to us upon arrival at the beautiful highlands. Refreshing and punchy, it was the perfect welcome drink after a long journey up to the mountains.

Native to Sri Lanka and South India, lemongrass can now be found in many countries around the world and is believed to carry many health benefits. This includes relieving anxiety and reducing inflammation in the body.

Ours tastes different to the familiar Thai lemongrass - bolder, yet smoother with a lingering sweetness. When infused, it produces a key lime green liquor in your cup, with a refreshing, citrusy aroma. Infuse it hot for an evening treat, adding ginger slices to combat a cold or sore throat. Or cold-brew it to keep yourself refreshed on hot afternoons.

Farm Story

Started by four partners with a focus on sustainability, Amba Estate is an organic farm producing artisanal teas, coffees and herbs. In addition to salary, benefits and overtime, Amba gives 10% of all its revenues back to its employees. Unlike other producers, Amba also empowers their staff through rotational work - meaning pickers can also process the leaves. This gives them a full-circle sense of pride for what they've created.

Amba's farms are 100% organic: No chemicals, artificial fertilizers, or pesticides are used. To maintain and enhance soil fertility, Amba uses green plant material from the estate's ground and manure from their own herd of ‘rescue cows’, as well as shade trees that naturally induce nitrogen-rich soil.

We stayed at Amba and instantly fell in love with the people and their story. After tasting their teas and tisanes, we sourced our absolute favorites: This Lemongrass and Ceylon Highlands. As well as their handmade coasters.

Harvested early in the morning, the Lemongrass is immediately cut and then gently dried, locking in the fresh lemongrass flavors.

The perfect summer drink!

I have tried really hard to curb my caffeine consumption and this has been the perfect antidote! A glass of the cold brewed lemongrass tea is the perfect post-run drink on a hot summer's day.

Super refreshing

I love tea but sometimes find it difficult to drink during hot days - drank this as a cold brew and it was a fabulous alternative to my standard coconut water. I keep the brew in the fridge, it's absolutely refreshing chilled!

A citrusy refreshing tisane

I must admit that I wasn't a big fan of lemongrass. But after trying this one, my opinion changed completely! It's because of the way Amba processes it, that we can taste such a refreshing and citrusy flavor. It is great warm or cold but I have to choose the cold version since we can taste more flavors. It's a great option for summer days and at the end of the day. I haven't tried it yet, but it will be perfect in cocktails ;) Top Top Tisane

A great alternative to caffeinated teas

This is my first tisane from Teawala and it was such a welcome addition to my collection. I love to drink tea but am very sensitive to caffeine so can't have it after 4PM (such a baby). This is such a great tea to have in the late afternoon, after dinner for digestion, or before going to bed. It's really fresh and crisp and even if you make a big batch that you can't finish, it stores really well in the fridge. Also, it is cut so beautifully! It is hard to believe that it is hand cut. The precision is marvelous.

Excellent cold brewed or regularly infused

I’ve tried so many lemon grasses. And I can say this has been one of the most flavorful and refreshing I’ve enjoyed. My favorite way to drink it: cold - specifically with sparkling water a little bit of lime and ginger.
