Course FAQ

I am a total beginner to tea. Is this course right for me?

The course is designed for tea drinkers with some familiarity with tea. However, we do also offer a course bundle that includes a Starter Tea Sampler for those who are less familiar with pure loose leaf tea and would like to taste alongside each chapter. We also provide recommended readings to supplement the curriculum for complete beginners.

I am fairly versed in tea. Is this course right for me?

In each tea-specific chapter, there is also a more advanced tea evaluation portion, where I show you how to discern quality levels for a specific tea. This can benefit more advanced tea drinkers.

What makes Teawala's approach to tasting & evaluating tea different from others? 

My approach is very experiential and sensory: I teach how to optimize all your senses to paint the full picture of a tea, and practice it in a simple 5-step method. No fancy tools or equipment necessary; Just tea leaves, water, you and your senses.

From this, I have created my own unique templates, including a Tasting Sheet, Flavor Bank, and Evaluation Sheet, which students can print and use each time they taste a tea. By repeatedly practicing this method, you will become more finely attuned to your tea leaves, and be able to reflect and express the flavor associations a tea brings to mind with confidence and enjoyment.

Do you offer a free trial or flexible payment plans?

We offer a 7 day money-back guarantee. This means we would issue you a full refund if the course does not align with your expectations or needs within the 7 day timeframe. There is also a sample chapter available, which you can watch for free on the course page.

How long will I have access to the course materials?

You will gain lifetime access to the course materials, just like you would with a textbook. All the PDFs are downloadable, and you can watch each video as many times as you like.

How long will it take me to complete the course?

The course is self-paced, which means you set your own schedule and you can begin whenever is best for you. There are 9 chapters, with a total of 150+ mins of video content (split into 10 minute bite-sized videos) and 20+ PDFs, along with optional quizzes/assignments. How you manage your time is up to you, but we recommend completing 1 chapter each week, which would mean a total time frame of 9 weeks. 

Can I interact with the instructor?

Yes, I'm here to support you. You'll gain access to my personal email address and I welcome you to message me any questions that come up throughout. Additionally I offer an optional one-on-one tea call with me if you'd like to chat further.

Is the course mobile-friendly?

Yes, it is hosted on the Teachable platform, which is both desktop and mobile friendly.

Is there a deadline to sign up?
